What is Neurofibromatosis?

Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a set of three genetic disorders
that cause tumors of the nervous system and other health problems.

  • NF1 often causes nerve tissue tumors anywhere in the body that have the potential to become cancerous, soften and curve the bones, and also cause learning disabilities. It affects 1 in every 3,000 people worldwide.

  • NF2 almost always causes brain tumors, spinal tumors, and deafness.

  • Schwannomatosis often causes tumors that are highly painful and harder to manage than NF1 or NF2.

What is the NF Team?

The NF Team is dedicated to funding neurofibromatosis research.
The NF Team also raises awareness of the disorder and supports the greater NF community.
There are currently no approved treatments and no cure for NF.
