What is Neurofibromatosis?
Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a genetic disorder
that affects 1 in 3000 people. There are three types:
- NF1 often causes nerve tissue tumors anywhere in the body that have the potential to become cancerous, softening and curving of the bones, and learning disabilities.
- NF2 almost always causes brain tumors and deafness.
- Schwannomatosis often causes tumors that are highly painful and harder to manage than NF1 or NF2.
What is the NF Team?
The NF Team is dedicated to funding neurofibromatosis research.
The NF Team also raises awareness of the disorder and supports the greater NF community.
There are currently no approved treatments and no cure for NF.
